This paper highlights the problem of functional constipation, its epidemiology, etiology, features clinical picture during prolonged immobilization in injured patients, and approaches to therapy. Stool retention patients undergoing is an urgent medical problem, since it occurs most these patients. The presents a example managing patient with injury musculoskeletal system constipation. Functional constipation associated number pathophysiological processes: genetic characteristics, lifestyle (lack physical activity) eating style characteristic Western cultures (low intake dietary fiber water), intestinal movement disorders that can be caused by numerous causes (neurogenic factors , diseases endocrine glands, circulatory vessels, taking certain medications), anatomical (dolichosigma), as well social (late awakening, morning rush, work different shifts, changes usual living working conditions) psychological features. possibilities modification injuries are very limited, special attention should paid correcting nutrition observing drinking regimen. key point treatment such will appointment stimulant laxatives, one which sodium picosulfate.
